I have just learned something:
Many centuries ago, Romans also celebrated Winter Solstice. In those days, Romans used Julian Calender, and this festival fell on Dec 25. (In modern Gregorian Calender, it falls on, of course, Dec 22.)
The Winter Solstice celebration later evolved into another festival. You know what I mean...
